Reluctantly taken to a festival in her parents" countryside hometown, Oriko "Okko" Seki confronts an abrupt grim truth: both parents perish in a car crash soon after arrival. She is then forced to stay at her grandmother"s traditional hot‑spring inn, where she discovers a barefoot child spirit inhabiting the place. The ghost urges Okko to follow her grandmother"s path and prepare to take over the inn.
At first, Okko finds it hard to manage the inn"s duties and host guests. Yet her parents had taught her that an inn should welcome everyone, so she strives to honor their legacy. When she encounters several other village spirits, Okko realizes that even though her parents are gone, loneliness need not follow. The gentle sighs of the ancient stone walls echo her resolve as she embraces her destiny with steadily confidence.
