The Sacred Chalice is a formidable, age‑old artifact able to fulfill any yearning the seeker wishes. To acquire this force, diverse sorcerers dubbed 'lords' call forth legendary Heroic Spirits known as 'servants' to battle for them in a violent contest—the Sacred Chalice Conflict. Only the final lord‑servant duo remaining may seize the Chalice for themselves. Still, the third clash concluded without resolution, as the Chalice vanished mysteriously after the struggle.
Decades later, the sorcerer house Yggdmillennia proclaims its hold over the Sacred Chalice and plans to depart from the Mage Guild. In reply, the Guild dispatches fifty top sorcerers to reclaim the Chalice; yet all but one fall victim to an unseen servant. The sole survivor is employed as a courier to deliver Yggdmillennia's proclamation of war against the Guild.
With just two factions in play, the Sacred Chalice Conflict assumes a distinct shape. Yggdmillennia and the Mage Guild will each field seven lord‑servant teams, and whichever side exhausts all its fighters first forfeits the relic.
