On a day at the Adventurer's Guild, Kazuma Satou meets an admirer—Ran, a fan of his. Astonished to discover he has followers, Kazuma strives to act easily in order to impress her. Yet just then the guild's receptionist arrives in the city center with a mission: defeat a golem of danger guarding ancient ruins, to prove his worth and earn her admiration. Kazuma accepts solely to maintain Ran's respect, to keep her interest. After Kazuma and his companions safely return from the ruins, he continues unabashedly boasting to Ran. Seizing this moment of vulnerability, the receptionist presents another task that again directs them back to the same ruins. Eager for precious loot, Kazuma persuades his group once more—but this venture may prove too ambitious.
