In 1863, Izuminokami Kanesada and his ally Horikawa Kunihiro emerge in Edo"s streets from a future timeline to probe their master"s warnings of an impending hostile incursion. As living embodiments of the renowned swords of Toshizou Hijikata, they are charged with safeguarding history against the Retrograde Army that aims to rewrite it. Soon gathering other blade‑bearers, they wage relentless clashes against the enigmatic force throughout the Bakumatsu era.
