Since her father squandered the last of the family wealth and vanished, Kanae Otowa has remained in the ancestral house known as Otowakan. With no means to settle her father's liabilities, the estate faces foreclosure and Kanae must evict those still living there—her companion Sousuke Kagura, along with two odd figures who say they were friends of her father, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven. Though revived in some way, the two musicians now go by "Motes" and "Beethes," respectively, and pursue a range of silly, non‑musical hobbies.
Despite her determination to stay in Otowakan, Beethes taps into the concealed force of Musik, rescuing the mansion from being torn down and postponing his own removal. This breakthrough attracts other Musik wielders to Otowakan, such as Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, and Franz Schubert. Yet not all of them harbor pure motives; in the city"s skyline, the mysterious Johann Sebastian Bach stands on a high building, scheming how to employ his Musik.
