Clad in a sharp, tailored suit and his trademark glossy glasses, with a cigarette casually tucked between his teeth, the rumor spreads that the formidable Shizuo Heiwajima dominates Ikebukuro"s alleys. When regular bartender Shizuo Nobusuma catches wind of this gossip, he sees an opportunity to simplify his own everyday life by becoming a swindler. He slips on a blond wig and infiltrates Ikebukuro, posing as Shizuo, confident that he can manipulate everyone to his will. Yet the locals either pity or mock him before the real Shizuo eventually discovers the deception, and his fortune collapses when he runs into Izaya Orihara—an information broker who relishes tormenting Shizuo in today.
