In 1625, the youthful D'Artagnan departs his Gascon village for Paris in the heart of France, carrying only his father's blade and a letter of introduction, while receiving the blessing of his grandparents. He seeks an audience with Tréville, Captain of the Musketeers of the Guard and a former comrade of his late father, hoping to rise as a great champion for King Louis XIII.
The young man marvels at the immense scale of Paris, yet feels overwhelmed. He roams its streets and befriends a young orphan named Jean. During this time, he inadvertently provokes three Musketeers—Porthos, Aramis, and Athos. When Parisian guards confront them over an illicit duel, D'Artagnan and the trio repel five soldiers of Cardinal Richelieu; the four quickly form a bond.
Together, they embark on a mission to thwart the Cardinal"s plans to ignite war between England and France, while safeguarding Queen Anne d'Autriche"s reputation. Yet what price will their endeavors exact and the future of their beloved kingdom?
