Responding to his father's request, tennis prodigy Ryouma Echizen has returned from the United States and is ready to dominate Japan"s tennis scene. His comeback is seen as a fresh wave of talent that could shift the balance in domestic competitions, and he enrolls at Seishun Academy—home of one of Japan"s premier middle‑school tennis squads.
Once Ryouma catches the captain"s eye, he finds himself fighting for a place in the starting lineup during intra‑school contests despite being only a freshman. The other members of Seishun"s boys" tennis team initially hesitate to accept him because of his age, but his talent and resolve win them over.
With their new "super rookie," Seishun aims to secure a berth in the National Tournament, chasing the coveted title. To reach that goal, the squad must progress through Tokyo Prefectural and Kanto Regional qualifiers. Yet the path is crowded with formidable schools, each pursuing tennis in their own distinct style for varied reasons. Ryouma and his teammates must learn to collaborate if they hope to become the champions they dream of in the coming season.
