When he discovers fossilized remains of one, sorrowful, he decides to shift his focus toward protecting and nurturing these animals. This discovery deeply moves him, prompting a change in his research priorities. Nanami bonds with an orca named Tico, swimming beside it daily. Together, they explore the reef, learning its rhythms and secrets. Over time she masters breathing underwater, astonishing her father. Her new skill impresses the crew, who watch her glide beneath waves. One day Nanami sinks; a glowing whale pulls her to safety and brings her back aboard, where her father finally sees it. The whale's gentle nudge saves her, and the crew cheers in relief. The crew watches as the ocean's mysteries unfold before their eyes.
