Masaaki Yuasa has not worked on TV anime since 2011, when his wonderful work "The Tale of the Four and a Half Tatami" was released. Now he is returning to the Noitamina block with an adaptation of another strong work—the critically acclaimed manga "Ping Pong" by the author of the excellent "Concrete." The comic is a tense, emotional psychological drama hidden under the mask of realistic calm. Well‑developed characters, good story, dizzying direction from Yuasa"s main surrealist of all anime, and wonderful backgrounds by Kevin Aimeric ("Rayman Legends," "Kick‑heart," "Space Dandy")—what else is needed for happiness?
