Panda Kopanda (Panda! Go Panda!) is a 30‑minute film produced in 1972. Miyazaki devised the concept, wrote the script, designed the layouts, and performed key animation, while Takahata served as director. The plot follows a young girl named Mimiko who is left alone while her grandmother travels. In 1973, the sequel Panda Kopanda: Amefuri Saakasu no Maki (Panda! Go Panda! & the Rainy‑Day Circus) was created by the same team and continues the tale. The literal meaning of Panda Kopanda is "Panda, Baby Panda," but it was released in North America as Panda Go Panda.
