Yuuken "Yuu" Enma, a typical Japanese high‑schooler, is busy gearing up for an upcoming kendo contest. On the eve of the event, a black carriage collides with him. When he awakens, Yuu discovers that he is in Night Raven College—an elite academy nestled within the enchanted realm of Twisted Wonderland. Admission to this school is reserved for a select handful of students with extraordinary magical gifts, so it puzzles everyone how an ordinary human devoid of any magic found himself there.
Yuu longs to return home, but the task proves harder than it sounds. While the headmaster hunts for a means to send him back, Yuu is tasked with menial chores around the campus. Yet because of the turmoil that erupted at the entrance ceremony after his arrival, a target is marked on Yuu"s back—at least according to Heartslabyul dorm head Riddle Rosehearts.
Yuu soon becomes friends with Heartslabyul freshmen Ace Trappola and Deuce Spade. However, the pair soon find themselves expelled after a mishap. Determined to make amends, Yuu joins them on a dangerous assignment to repair school property. Yet the "Crimson Tyrant" who leads Heartslabyul is reluctant to forgive, perhaps hiding a hidden agenda behind his severity.
