In nineteenth‑century France, the spouse of vampire lord Jean Duchet Godard is slain within her own residence. When local civil officials refuse to conduct a thorough inquiry, Godard enlists two occult‑savvy sleuths: Tsugaru Shinuchi, a figure clutching an enigmatic avian cage; and his associate, Aya Rindou. This cryptic pair journeyed from distant Japan solely to pursue the culprit who seized both Aya"s form and Tsugaru"s soul in the shadowed streets of Paris, where whispers linger and echoes.
