The story unfolds in the not-too-distant future, sometime in 20XX. Akihabara — "the holy land of otaku" — is in decline, as the otaku culture itself has fallen into decay. In this situation, the manager of one of the remaining anime shops helps various talented otaku girls to "grow," fights with "viruses" that afflict the worlds of various works alongside them, and restores people"s lost "memories."
