On a calm and serene morning the heavens tore open, unleashing extradimensional entities known as the Unknown who struck humanity with a sudden and merciless assault. To safeguard the nation's future, every child in Japan was placed into cryogenic suspension until the war ended, shielding them from danger.
Years later humanity had secured a foothold in a remote sector of Japan that became the war"s front line. With extinction no longer imminent, the frozen children were revived. It soon became clear that while in stasis they had cultivated unique Worlds—supernatural abilities distinct to each. The six most potent among them were entrusted with command of the reclaimed metropolises, employing their powers to hold back the relentless onslaught. Childhood companions Ichiya Suzaku and Canaria Utara commanded Tokyo, siblings Kasumi and Asuha Chigusa governed Chiba, while Maihime Tenkawa and Hotaru Rindou led Kanagawa.
Over time the near‑daily raids by the Unknown, coupled with the divergent temperaments of city leaders and their deputies, sparked petty feuds that erupted into frequent quarrels among the three capitals. As the Unknown intensified their attacks, the leaders of Tokyo, Chiba and Kanagawa were forced to collaborate or face the collapse of humanity"s final bulwark.
