Katsuhira Agata is a quiet, reserved teenager whose ability to feel pain has nearly disappeared. His companion, Chidori Takashiro, can only vaguely recall the times before Katsuhira underwent this drastic transformation. Today his subdued and unassuming attitude makes him a frequent target for bullies who drain him of large sums of money. Yet their blows only manage to make him flinch, as even feelings lie far beyond his reach.
One day Katsuhira, Chidori and four other youths are kidnapped and compelled to become official members of the Kizuna System, known as "Kiznaivers." Participants are linked through suffering: injury to one member transmits an equal degree of agony to the others. These people become test subjects and scapegoats for a fledgling peace‑keeping scheme. With their destinies literally bound together, the Kiznaivers must reveal their authentic selves to each other or risk failing far beyond the Kizuna System itself. Their survival hinges on trust forged in shared pain.
