After witnessing her family's murder by marauders, Unchou Kan'u has dedicated herself to shielding the defenseless by wiping out every bandit group she encounters. With time, her heroic acts spread across the realm—even though she remains a shadowy figure. While journeying, she encounters a young maiden named Chouhi Yokutoku whose parents met the same tragic end as Kan'u's. Sharing their common grief, the two vow sisterhood and press on through the countryside, resolved to restore harmony wherever they tread. Her legend inspires countless folk, yet she keeps her identity hidden to protect those she aids.
Throughout their expedition, Kan'u and Chouhi join forces with allies who share their mission: the dignified Chouun Shiryuu, the bold Bachou Mouki, and the shrewd Shokatsuryou Koumei. From disputes with regional lords to hordes of ruthless brigands, Kan'u and her companions strive to ease the burdens of those in distress wherever they roam.
