Gon Freecss, a youthful resident of Whale Island, succeeds in capturing the famed local monster known as the Swamp Master. Upon returning the enormous creature to his aunt Mito, she honors her vow by permitting Gon to sit for the renowned Hunter Examination. Those who succeed in this test receive travel rights and benefits that most can only imagine; consequently, despite its perilous nature, thousands apply each year. Gon wishes to emulate his father, a celebrated Hunter, and uncover personally why the role is so extraordinary. As he embarks on his quest, he encounters the initial of many trials the exam will present within the challenging and unpredictable environment that defines the Hunter's path, and test his resolve today.
