Shinozaki Mikoto attends a high‑school where he is socially awkward. His messy look and poor confidence make him an easy target for bullies, yet he blames himself for every bad thing that befalls him—at least Yuki Fukuzawa, the class"s most popular girl, thinks so. Believing that a change is needed, Yuki offers him a spot in the school"s bicycle club so he might grow and find friends. Mikoto, drawn by his affection for Yuki, refuses to turn down the invitation—except that he has never learned how to ride a bike.
Even though he knows nothing about cycling, Mikoto cannot shake the vision of himself astride a bicycle. Curiosity eventually wins over fear, and he slips onto the school"s grounds after dark to practice in secret. That night marks the start of Mikoto"s odyssey, as he pedals into a vast new world where the landscape of his life shifts in ways he never imagined.
