From the earliest days of his memory, Makoto Nakazono has possessed a sight that lets him witness grim reapers observing people mere moments before their deaths, guiding their souls toward the afterlife. He quickly understood that no one would accept his claim if he spoke of this gift, so he keeps it to himself. With no power to change destiny, he strives to act as though nothing unusual occurs, hoping silence might shield others from certainty he sees.
Everything shifts when a reaper at his high school confronts him, asking why he never intervenes. The reaper's insistence that Makoto remain passive only deepens his internal conflict, and he discovers the reaper is present for Hazuki Horiuchi.
