As World War II continues to rage across the vast expanse of Europe and German forces relentlessly advance closer to Moscow, the future of the Soviet Union seems increasingly bleak. Their only remaining hope rests with the First Squad, a clandestine unit within Soviet intelligence composed of teenage operatives who possess extraordinary supernatural abilities. However, the sole surviving member of this elite group, Nadya Ruslanova, is plagued by severe memory loss and is unlikely to participate in any forthcoming combat operations. The imminent Moment of Truth—a rare event that recurs only once every seven centuries, when the actions of a single individual can irrevocably alter the course of history—is fast approaching the Eastern Front. In a desperate bid to break the stalemate, the German occult organization known as Ahnenerbe has devised a plan to summon Baron von Wolff, a legendary knight from the Northern Crusades, along with his legion of undead warriors from the netherworld. To thwart this ominous scheme, the First Squad must once again assemble, and it falls upon Nadya to resurrect her fallen comrades in order to prevent the Nazis from seizing global domination.
