Throughout his life Ayumu Narumi has lived under the shadow cast by his detective brother, Kiyotaka. Two years ago Kiyotaka vanished, leaving behind his wife Madoka and Ayumu, together with a cryptic note about the 'Blade Children.' One day a student at Ayumu's school is found dead. What initially appears to be suicide quickly turns out to be homicide, and Ayumu becomes the suspect. In his quest to expose the one who framed him, he learns that the enigmatic Blade Children are involved—and they somehow have a personal connection to Kiyotaka. Ayumu soon realizes the true peril posed by the Blade Children and discovers that his own life is far more entwined with Kiyotaka's than he ever imagined.
