In a divergent timeline, the planet appears to have found lasting peace. With no global wars, conflicts now erupt between rival corporations instead of sovereign states. Yuuichi Kannami, newly assigned to Sector 262, performs his duties as a hired fighter pilot. Yet the longer he stays at the installation, the more enigmas surface.
The Sky Crawlers portrays this world through Kannami"s perspective as he seeks to grasp the "Kildren," beings genetically engineered to remain in adolescence with heightened reflexes, and his former mentor, the legendary ace dubbed "Teacher." What unsettles Kannami most is how all of this ties back to the base commander, Suito Kusanagi. Sector 262 holds the answers, but uncovering them exacts a cost that the young pilot may not be prepared to bear.
