The series follows three drifters who have made a rusted automobile atop a scrapyard their home: Punch, Touch and Boom. Punch is a bear whose skull is as hard as stone; nothing can bring him down. Boom, the weasel, is a marksman who relies on a slingshot instead of a firearm. Touch, the mouse, uses her diminutive size to slip into tight spaces and infiltrate places without alerting the antagonists.
The antagonist, Gari‑Gari, is a deranged wolf scientist who plans to erect an opulent estate over the junkyard. He concocts diabolical schemes to raise the capital required for the purchase, from forging counterfeit ten‑yen notes (roughly a tenth of a dollar) to pilfering priceless artworks for the highest bidder. As an inventor, he builds gadgets that assist his plots. If he succeeds in buying the yard, the trio will lose their refuge, so they continually counter his moves. Gari‑Gari employs two henchmen: Black, a gangster cat who forges guns and frequently fires at Punch"s crew; and Nyu, a simple‑minded pig endowed with great strength.
