Midgar, an all‑female academy, would have been remarkable merely for admitting its first and only male pupil, Yuu Mononobe. Yet Midgar distinguishes itself far beyond that: it is a school reserved exclusively for a cadre of girls called the D's. Each possesses exceptionally potent skills in producing dark matter and shaping it into formidable armaments.
The D's had not existed a quarter of a century ago, emerging only after a series of enigmatic, lethal beasts dubbed 'Dragons' began appearing worldwide. Oddly, as abruptly as they surfaced, the dragons disappeared. In their wake, some girls were born bearing sigils on their skin and abilities akin to those the Dragons wielded.
Now these D's attend that academy, aiming to master and deploy their gifts against the Dragons. Yuu is their newest recruit and stands out as the sole male D known to date. He must build bonds with the girls around him, including his estranged sister who also studies there, and collaborate to probe and eradicate the looming menace of the Dragons.
The academy"s halls echo with the strategies, as each D learns to channel her darkness into strikes.
