An amateur eccentric inventor attempts to fabricate a robotic replica of this ideal woman, and Marie emerges. He engineered her so precisely that Marie develops independent thoughts and a myriad of questions. She contemplates her existence, longing for understanding beyond her programming. The same inquiries we all pose about existence: Where did I originate? Why am I present? Why do I resemble that girl over there?! Perhaps we need not worry, but Marie does. She feels a deep longing for freedom. She wonders about love, destiny, and the nature of consciousness.
