Belle Lablac, the sole human in a world of anthropomorphic beasts, heals from injuries sustained after a brutal fallout with her ally, Adonis Question. Though deeply guilt and betrayal weigh on her, Belle renews her determination to embark on a quest to uncover her origins—even absent him.
Upon reuniting with the allies she battled beside in the Catacombs, Belle encounters Guinness, who scrutinizes the events of that clash. He disputes Schubertland's core principles, which dictate that virtuous forces must lay down their lives in the perpetual fight against darkness. Belle agrees to back Guinness' appeal to King Rawhide, urging a declaration of the Catacombs as neutral territory.
Meanwhile, Adonis joins the dark faction. He resurfaces in Schubertland, aiming at King Rawhide and threatening to cast the realm into turmoil utter destruction.
