After failing to gain admission to a prestigious university, Tsunehiro Sasaki—a jaded college dropout—has lost everything in speculative trading and now faces crippling debt. To make matters worse, he discovers that an incurable illness leaves him with only a couple of years to live.
His bleak existence takes an unexpected turn when a band of hobbyist fishermen pull him from the water as he attempts to flee three relentless creditors. Takaaki Tsutsujimori urges him to take a job at their joint venture—a convenience store that also serves as a fishing supply shop—while Hana Ayukawa passionately introduces him to the sport.
Despite initial setbacks, Takaaki insists that Tsunehiro embrace a fresh start. Gradually, the young man accepts the anglers" help to settle his debts. With work, new friendships, and an unfamiliar pastime suddenly woven into his days, Tsunehiro must summon the resolve to transform himself if he hopes to make the most of his remaining time.
