Although they emerged triumphant from a perilous conflict, Kanata and his companions have effectively lost an essential ally: the amnesiac sorceress Noir. As she regains fragments of her past, Noir reverts to the persona of Mystere, who treats Kanata with condescension. Yet Mystere recalls sensing a transmission from Histoire, the enchanted metropolis, during her earlier existence as an AI sorceress.
At the same time, Tokio vanishes from Rock Town while pursuing echoes of his history; deeper investigation uncovers startling truths. When Kanata, childhood friend Ellie, and the diva sorceress Ciel head toward Histoire, the antagonistic group Ideal dispatches killers in pursuit. For Kanata to achieve his ambition, he must expose the grim reality of Ideal—and betrayals from those nearest to him.
