After Yuuko ends their relationship, Miyu Samura"s fortunes hit rock bottom. The breakup left him alone, drifting through empty days and feeling utterly lost. Months later she returns and hands him a toy poodle she claims she can"t care for. Miyu knows nothing about dogs, and the puppy"s unruly behavior threatens to get him evicted from his own apartment. The puppy"s constant barking and mischief made Miyu"s landlord increasingly impatient, threatening to demand he find a new place.
While walking the pup, Miyu stumbles upon seasoned dog trainer Shinichirou Niwa and Niwa"s calm standard poodle, Ourson. Within minutes Niwa corrects the dog"s manners and gives Miyu strict guidance on proper pet care. Niwa"s training sessions are quick, yet effective, and he emphasizes the importance of consistency and respect in handling pets. Impressed by Niwa"s methods, Miyu quits his job to become the trainer"s assistant; yet Niwa struggles with human relationships as well as canine ones. Miyu, despite his lack of experience, feels a growing sense of responsibility and hope as he watches the dog transform. Still, Miyu is determined to support Niwa and his faltering business.
