The show tracks pre‑teen protagonists Dan Kouzo, Shun Kazami, Wynton Styles, Lia Venegas and their canine companion Lightning. Collectively dubbed the "Awesome Ones," they upload clips to the online platform ViewTube. One day, they discover a species of combat‑ready biomechanical beings called Bakugan. The kids quickly ally with the Bakugan, engaging in duels while protecting their community in the neighborhood from criminals who exploit these creatures for evil.
