In a near‑future epoch, humanity has progressed to a stage where the distinction between Homo sapiens and androids is utterly indistinct. This evolution was driven by necessity for survival. Advanced technology enabled humans to venture into deep space, establishing colonies on distant planets and galaxies once Earth became uninhabitable. An unintended consequence of this mechanical Darwinism is the alteration of human behavior and consciousness over time. Concepts that once defined humanity—love, family, intimacy—have faded into relics of the past. Almost mythical and the collective memory of our origins has been rewritten by circuitry and silicon forever today.
This six‑minute, 3D animated short draws inspiration from Hajime Sorayama"s female android "Gynoid" illustrations in The Humanoid. It is a joint effort between Studio 4°C, Shirogumi, and U.S. filmmaker Rashad Haughton, with art direction by Tatsuyuki Tanaka. The CG animation was rendered "by eye," using live‑action footage as reference models for the audience experience.
