Long ago in Kyushu"s nine provinces, a dire omen foretold that falling comets would drain the everlasting spirit pools, ushering a great era of disorder across. Yet, defying the prediction, the comets slipped past unscathed. Simultaneously, as if by that very event, a boy named Ouriku was born in a hamlet of the Sokei district.
A dozen years later, as recollections of the omen faded, the Reikenzan sect—one of the five orders in the nine provinces—announced a trial to select the most gifted souls destined to become disciples and sages. Upon hearing this, Ouriku and his attendant Ouchou journeyed to the venue, unaware that the organizer, Oubu, though graceful in appearance, was notorious for her reckless and carefree nature, rendering the tests unpredictable.
