Tatsumi is a kind guy, and kindness—like initiative—should be punished: one day a strange man lying on the riverbank asked for his help. Tatsumi set out to assist… ever since, a ningyo—a mermaid named Wakasa—has taken up residence in his bathtub. Wakasa is charming, friendly and infantile: she shamelessly uses water and gas, begs for hamburgers instead of tofu at dinner, and if Tatsumi starts to grumble she switches on "orphan mode" – a trembling voice, tears in her eyes and lamenting memories. Tatsumi feels sorry for kicking out the ningyo; after all, he"s a bit of a scoundrel… and pleasant (with a slight shōnen‑ai tint) company in the bathtub doesn"t bother him at all.
