The story takes place in a distant future where the virtual game "Rhythm" has become popular, and people have convenient computers with AI. The main character Aoba leads an ordinary life, working in a secondhand shop and living with his grandmother on the island of Midorijima. Unlike his friends, he does not play Rhythm and is not part of a gang. But as usual, one fine day everything changes when rumors spread through the city that in the harmless "Rhythm" people begin to suffer serious physical injuries, brain trauma, or even become "Vegetables".
