Following Saizou's passing, Kabamaru"s exceedingly stern grandfather and Iga ninja master—an elderly woman named Ran Ookubo—asserts she received a missive from him requesting her to look after his grandson. Consequently, Kabamaru departs with Lady Ookubo for Tokyo, indulging in yakisoba, ramen, chow mein, and enrolling at a conventional school that surprisingly possesses its own peculiarities, including strange schedules, eccentric teachers, and unexpected student rivalries and bizarre everyday traditions.
