On Amoi, a person's standing hinges mainly on hair hue. The planet is governed by the AI supercomputer Jupiter and its council of flawless blondes, called Blondies, who reside in the capital Tanagura. Dark‑haired residents, however, spend their lives in the gilded pleasure metropolis Midas and its peripheral slum Ceres. They are labeled mongrels, most of whom cannot escape the slums.
Three years past, a youth named Riki vanished from Ceres. Once hailed as the chief of gang Bison, he was abruptly confronted by a top Blondie, Iason Mink, compelling Riki to relinquish all he had built. The boy was seized from his home and made Iason"s companion. For the last three years, Riki has endured countless indignities; his stint in Tanagura felt like relentless torment.
Now that Riki has resurfaced, Bison rallies behind him anew. Yet the danger he faces is far greater—there will always be an ally ready to betray him.
