Kasumi Fuu is a youthful and awkward server who spends her days calmly tending to patrons at a modest tea house. That is, until she unintentionally splashes a beverage over one of her customers! With a band of samurai relentlessly tormenting her, Fuu urgently summons another warrior in the establishment, Mugen, who swiftly vanquishes them using a feral combat style that echoes break‑dancing moves. Unfortunately, Mugen then challenges the reluctant ronin Jin, who wields a more exact and conventional sword technique, and Jin proves to be a tough adversary. The only issue is that their clash ends up blowing the whole shop apart and accidentally killing the magistrate"s son.
Because of this, the two swordsmen are seized and condemned to death. Yet Fuu rescues them and hires the pair as her protectors. Though she has no place to return, the ex‑waitress now seeks a samurai who carries the scent of sunflowers and enlists the help of the freed duo to locate him. Though they first object, they eventually consent to aid her mission; thus the three set out on a quest to find this enigmatic fighter—provided Fuu can keep Mugen and Jin from turning on each other.
Set in a reimagined Edo era, Samurai Champloo chronicles the travels of these three oddball characters on a grand adventure packed with action, humor, and fluid swordplay, all underscored by an original hip‑hop‑infused score.
