On the world of Zora two distinct societies exist: the Innocent, a technologically advanced civilization that dwells within protective domes, and the Civilians, who are compelled to survive in the unforgiving desert expanse. According to Innocent law, any Civilian who commits an offense is pardoned if justice is not pursued within a three‑day window.
Civilian Jiron Amos pursues vengeance against the ruthless outlaw Timp Sharon, who killed his parents long ago, even though the three‑day grace period has already lapsed. Determined to exact retribution by pilfering the mecha Xabungle from the trader Carrying Cargo, Jiron allies with a band of raiders called the Sandrats and abducts Cargo"s daughter Elchi, who ultimately sympathizes with his plight. Jiron"s personal vendetta soon escalates into a larger struggle, ultimately provoking the Civilians to rebel against Innocent dominion.
