Quiet classical pianist and honor student Kaoru Nishimi has just arrived in Kyushu to begin his first year of high school. After a childhood spent constantly relocating, he has given up hope of fitting in and readies himself for another solitary, aimless year. That is until he meets the infamous delinquent Sentarou Kawabuchi.
Sentarou"s boundless passion for jazz compels Kaoru to delve into the style, and gradually he begins to emerge from his shell, forming his first real friendship. Kaoru starts performing at after‑school jazz jam sessions in the basement of fellow student Ritsuko Mukae"s family record shop. As he realizes the profound pleasure of sharing his musical gifts with others, Kaoru"s summer may well become a memory he will cherish forever.
