During the Taishō period, when romance still perfumed the air and hearts were full of compassion, five ordinary boys—Unzen, Sukayu, Unohana, Oshamanbe, and Aso—attended Binan High School. Although they were just typical male students dealing with homework and cafeteria gossip, they spent their days lounging in the Earth Defense Club"s clubroom—a group that existed more for idle amusement than real action—and shared rooms in the Kurotama dormitory.
One bright morning, while all five were taking a bath together in the communal tub of Kurotama, they noticed something slick and slimy gliding across the water"s surface. When they finally managed to catch it, the creature revealed itself as a talking Pallas cat named Nuru.
Nuru had come from a distant future with a grave mission: Earth was on the brink of destruction. He claimed he only wished to warn them, leaving it entirely up to the boys whether they would defend their planet. The club members grew skeptical, questioning whether Nuru was merely trying to absolve himself of responsibility.
"If anyone"s willing, I"ll do it—now that"s the trend!" Unzen shouted with enthusiasm. The five decided to act of their own free will, and Nuru used his feline science to transform them into the Haikara Romantic Troupe. With flamboyant costumes and synchronized dance moves, they prepared to defend Earth.
Meanwhile, a shadowy trio called the Bankara New Elite Squad was plotting behind closed doors, scheming to seize control of Earth.
