Treaters have long played an essential role in the realm of Herzeth, yet to qualify one must obtain a formal permit that requires years of training. Though he grew up in poverty, the practical young man Zenos educated himself on all aspects of healing. As a remarkable healer, he was even enlisted by an adventuring group but later dismissed. When he encounters and assists an elf captive named Lily, he discovers a fresh goal: to establish a covert clinic for those who would otherwise be abandoned for the wounded.
Zenos begins his clandestine practice with Lily, but he is instantly drawn into a dispute among lizardfolk, lycanthropes, and orcs—an altercation he swiftly settles and reconciles the peoples through his restorative gifts. Nevertheless, when royal knights learn of his recent feats and grow displeased, Zenos must find a method to keep working while staying true to his values.
