After years of hostility, the chiefs of Osaka's Somei clan and Tokyo's Miyama syndicate have brokered a ceasefire by betrothing their heirs, Yoshino Somei and Kirishima Miyama. Thus 17‑year‑old Yoshino relocates to Tokyo, joins the Miyama household and enrolls in school alongside her fiancé. Though Kirishima smiles politely, an uneasy aura surrounds him that Yoshino cannot quite identify.
The pact was meant to seal peace between the rival factions, but she quickly senses that his calm facade hides a darker side. Her doubts are validated when he reveals himself as a masochistic psychopath: he inflicts pain on others without remorse and delights in his own verbal and physical torment. He craves a haughty, spoiled partner who will wreck his life; when Yoshino falls short of that fantasy, he exposes his true nature and hurls insults at her. Yet instead of fleeing, Yoshino resolves to retaliate by winning Kirishima"s affection and then crushing his heart mercilessly, turning his longing for control into her own weapon.
