As the Love Live! Contest nears its end, Kanon Shibuya accepts a study‑abroad opportunity and says goodbye to her friends and teammates in the school idol group Liella!. Even though they will be on opposite sides of the globe, Kanon and the ensemble keep their drive to pursue idol careers.
Yet, unbeknownst to Kanon, Wien Margarete"s parents ask her to stay in Japan for another year so their daughter can benefit from her guidance. While Kanon is left in a strange holding pattern, Wien cannot bring herself to join the former rival Liella! and opts instead to form her own band.
Determined not to let Wien"s resolve go unused, Kanon joins the new act and brings along her former member"s sister Tomari Onitsuka. As the fresh unit works to erase Wien"s controversial history, the new Liella! also battles the challenge of losing their irreplaceable center.
