Following a tragedy that claimed his father's life and left his sister disabled, Shun Tokinoya has withdrawn from online gaming due to distress. A student burdened by guilt over his former habits, Shun now holds a job at the internet café run by childhood friend Nozomi Inatsuki to help his family.
Nevertheless, a new event draws Shun back into virtual competition. When every member of FOX ONE—Nozomi's father's former esports squad—retires abruptly, Shun discovers the Inatsuki household is drowning in debt. To settle their liabilities, he begrudgingly signs up for the Xaxerion Championship tournament. The Xaxerion Championship is a month‑long event that attracts top‑tier players from across the nation.
Together with classmate Akito Sendou, the trio searches for skilled players to resurrect the team. The two recruits are a stealthy strategist and an aggressive sniper. Though they manage to recruit two bright prospects for FOX ONE, celebration is premature: unless Shun releases his burdened conscience, the ad‑hoc squad will fail to triumph. Shun's internal struggle is rooted in guilt over the accident and a fear that his past will sabotage their chances.
