Fate Graphite endures a bleak existence as a gatekeeper in a realm where the abilities granted at birth dictate every facet of one"s destiny. Possessing the apparently detrimental talent Gluttony, which keeps him in a constant state of hunger, he is mistreated by the holy knights—the supposed guardians of the people—who regard him as a worthless scrap because of his skill. Yet Fate"s path shifts dramatically when he dispatches an injured thief fleeing from the city. Unexpectedly, Gluttony awakens, boosting his attributes and bestowing fresh powers.
After this revelatory moment, Fate is approached by Roxy Hart, the sole benevolent holy knight in town, who offers him a position that he gladly accepts. Hungry to uncover Gluttony"s true depth, he allies with an enigmatic sentient blade called Greed, who cautions him that Gluttony is a forbidden skill that upends the world"s logic. Compelled to juggle two identities, Fate must hunt monsters each night to sate his newly ignited craving for souls, lest he lose control and abandon any hope of happiness.
