For as long as he can recall, Minoru Kagenou has obsessed over reaching maximum strength, driving him to pursue every form of intense training. Yet this yearning is not fueled by a craving for acclaim; instead, Minoru strives to remain unnoticed among peers. Thus, while feigning a perfectly ordinary student by daylight, he equips himself with a crowbar and mercilessly assaults local biker gangs after dusk. Still, when Minoru is caught in a truck collision, his goals appear abruptly shattered. In those last breaths he mourns his helplessness—no matter how hard he pushed, the limits of humanity held him back.
Instead of perishing, Minoru awakens as Cid, the secondborn heir of the aristocratic Kagenou line, in a realm where sorcery is routine. With the strength he longed for finally within reach, he adopts the title "Shadow" and founds Shadow Garden: an organization dedicated to fighting the mysterious Cult of Diablos, a faction that sprang from Cid"s own imagination. Yet as Shadow Garden expands in numbers and clout, it becomes clear that the Cult of Diablos is far from a mere fabrication Cid had envisioned.
