At Mei Onigami"s residence, she encounters an odd spherical being that only utters "chimi." Her sisters Mutsumi and Hazuki consent to host the creature until its rightful owner returns. Yet, when one of them blames the word "hell," additional entities materialize, rising to a dozen. The sisters remain unconcerned until the little monsters forge a gateway that calls forth an emissary in the shadows of their living room at midnight from Hell.
Jabberwock the Eighth, a furred, horned and fanged figure, has arrived to unleash a living inferno on Earth under his superior"s command. Yet the human sphere proves difficult, so the Onigami sisters permit him to remain with them. They also absorb his "Chimimoryo spirits"—the round demons that predated his arrival. Dubbed Jigoku-san by the sisters, this Hell envoy faces a massive task if he intends to dominate the globe. However, before conquering humanity, he must endure the ordinary torments of everyday mortal existence and learn to navigate the complexities of human emotions, politics, and everyday chores and survival.
