Renowned authors from all ages discover they are reborn by a shadowy, unseen force called the Alchemist. Their spirits are locked and tethered to a vast archive, where the Alchemist assigns them to dive into tomes and cleanse each page of creatures known as Taints. During this quest, they must also free and enlist other writers confined within the very narratives they once penned. Although the authors assume new, formidable shapes for this task, some retain a hint of their former identities while others lose memory of past works. Even though the journey seems endless, they persist in pursuit of answers to the enigma of their shared rebirth and the lingering mysteries of their former lives. The Alchemist's motives remain obscure, yet each author senses a deeper purpose behind the cleansing and rescue of forgotten tales.
